Each student had the opportunity to dissect both a cow eye and a sheep heart, through the direction of their TAs. The cow eye dissection, in particular, allowed them to more fully understand the anatomy of the eye, which they had learned a little bit about during their field trip to the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. For many of the students, this was their first time performing a dissection, and the some of the reactions we captured describe the room perfectly – a little initial disgust, followed by a great interest as they got further into the anatomy, all while having a ton of fun!
